- This is Arcgsh version 3.5.
-
- Arcgsh is a program that eases the calling of the well-known archivers Zoo,
- Arc, LHarc and Shar. Furthermore the programs Uud and Uue are supported to
- let you decode resp. encode binary files for handling with e-mail. You can
- use your favorite file viewer and your favorite editor from Arcgsh without
- any need to leave the program.
-
- With Arcgsh it is no longer neccessary to start a command-line- shell, "cd"
- to the directory where your archive file is (or should be created), remember
- the various archiver options (each archiver has it's own set of options),
- type them in and finally start the program. With Arcgsh you can handle
- everything with GEM objects: Dialog boxes let you select program options,
- and filenames are comfortably selected using the GEM file selector box.
-
- Arcgsh serves especially well for uudecoding and unarcing any stuff received
- from computer networks. The programs ZOO.TTP, ARC.TTP, LHARC.TTP, UUD.TTP,
- UUE.TTP, and SHAR.TTP are not part of the Arcgsh distribution. You have to
- get them elsewhere.
-
-
- New in this version (since Arcgsh 3.2):
-
- - Arcgsh now supports the ARGV extended parameter passing scheme in addition
- to the xArgv parameter passing scheme. This is especially useful for
- working with Zoo, because parameter strings longer than 125 characters can
- be handed over now. The ARGV and xArgv parameter passing schemes are
- available to registered users only.
-
- - Zoo did not work properly when Arcgsh was called from the Gemini shell by
- dragging a Zoo archive file to the Arcgsh icon on the Gemini desktop.
- Fixed. (Technical note: This problem was due to the fact that Gemini
- supports the ARGV parameter passing scheme and Arcgsh did not.
- Furthermore Zoo did not notice the ARGV environment was not set up for
- itself but for Arcgsh.)
-
- - A new option "Zoom boxes" has been introduced. If this option is active a
- growing box is drawn when a window is opened and a shrinking box when it is
- closed. This was Arcgsh's normal behavior in former versions. When you
- disable this option the "zoom" boxes are not drawn and you will get a
- little speed gain in the dialogs.
-
- - The dialog boxes for Zoo, Arc, LHarc, Uud, and "other program" as well as
- the file selector for "show file" and "edit file" can be invoked from the
- keyboard now. The keys that start a certain function are listed at the
- right hand side of the menu entries within the "File" menu.
-
- - A new option "Repeat last dialog" has been introduced. If this option is
- active the dialog that was called last will be repeated automatically until
- it is left with the "Cancel" button. Example: After Zoo has executed the
- Zoo dialog box appears on the screen again automatically.
-
- - Under certain circumstances the automatic startup inserted "arcgsh.rsc" as
- the archive file. Fixed.
-
-
- Included in this package:
- - ARCGSH.PRG executable program
- - ARCGSH.RSC resource file
- - ARCGSH.TEX documentation in LaTeX format
- - MAKEIDX.STY stops TeX moaning if you do not have the makeidx style
- - HISTORY history file
- - README this file
-
- Bug reports, suggestions, corrections of typos and of my 'german english'
- are greatly appreciated. Flames to /dev/null.
